Composite and inverse functions
Introduction
This chapter combines functions in two ways. First, we build new functions from old ones — adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing functions, and forming the composition of two functions. Then we look at inverse functions, which reverse what a function does.
Sections in this chapter
Composite functions
The algebra of functions (sum, difference, product, and quotient) and the composition of two functions.
Inverse functions
One-to-one functions and the horizontal line test, finding the inverse of a function, the domain and range of an inverse, and the graph of an inverse.
